A
year since its launch, the Feminenza website
is now really starting to take shape and
attract some attention with over 1,000 visits
per month. We are working on ways to
increase the number of visitors and so the
more full and up to date it is, the better. If
you haven’t visited it before, or recently, then
please log on and take a look at the latest
information and pages and maybe you will
want to tell your family and friends about it.
The site is still in the early stages of what it
will become and the small website team,
headed up by Website Editor, Sally Beeson,
is busy developing more pages and items of
interest. Sally says: “I was really keen to get a
Feminenza website up and running. Not only
is it a ‘shop window’ for Feminenza but what
a great way of making contact and getting an
exchange going with women right across the
globe, no matter how isolated they are or
alone they may be feeling. In cyberspace, a
friend really is a click away.” We are also
pleased to announce that there is now a new
German version of the site, which can be
found at http://www.feminenza.de.
Thanks to Claudia Schenk for her hard work on that.
The
On-line Book Club
This
is a great new feature on the website. Every quarter a book will
be recommended
(by you we hope), and ladies (or gents) are
invited to write a review or to drop comments
onto the discussion board.
Book Club hosts Gill Huyton and Linda Moore
are hoping that you will make friends across
the globe and link up with other like-minded
people. “We see it as a first step where we
can join up around the world and further our
work together,” says Gill. “We often have in
mind when we are discussing ideas our members
in New Zealand and how to close the
geographical gap between us all.”

We
are delighted to announce that the author of this quarter’s recommended book‘Hypatia’s
Heritage’,
Margaret Alic, has agreed to take part in the Club and is open
to questions
and comments. We hope to try and
get each author involved (if they are living)
to generate some really in-depth responses.
So, do post us your questions that you want
her to answer using the Book Club email
address:
.There is
also a small prize of the following quarter’s
book for the best review, which will be
posted on the website for everyone to read.
So why not start writing? You’ll find some
helpful pointers on the site for those who
may not have done this sort of thing before.
We
also welcome book reviews on any book you have read that you
think might be of
interest to visitors to the site. Please submit
them via the website or by email to
bookclub@feminenza.org. For those avid
book readers amongst you, don’t forget every
sale made on Amazon from using the link on
our site provides commission to Feminenza.
Every little bit helps towards the work we do.
Book
Club co-host and website contributor, Linda Moore says, “On my recent visit to India
I made contact with many ladies who were
interested in Feminenza. As there isn’t yet a
group established in India or indeed in many
other countries at the moment, I am really
pleased that the website exists to give them
access to a greater network of women.” New
ideas and possible future developments…
We
are currently trialing private pages available exclusively for
Feminenza members.
It is a forum where you can swap thoughts,
information and work. Obviously the security
and privacy is a major consideration, but we
think it is achievable. If you haven’t already
seen it, speak to your Feminenza contact
for details or email the Website Editor at
quoting the name
of your group and country where
you live. It is our intention that this
development will ultimately help us
to provide full membership on-line.
Further
we are looking into setting up a networking page where Feminenza
members can promote the sale of
their produce or services. We have
two reasons for doing this: one is to
help them make some income via this
medium, and also to generate some
revenue towards Feminenza projects.
It also helps people to get to know who we are by the quality
of
the produce.
We will post details of it on the website and
then you can let us know if you want to
advertise. We particularly thought about
those who have written books and set up
new projects, and we know some of the
members make lovely jewellery and beauty
products - and that’s just for starters.
How
you could help
We would love to publish more information
from anyone reading this article, both on the
public Feminenza site and private members’ pages,
so do send in your submissions. It could be news and photos of
Feminenza
activities in your area or some of your own
work, poetry, insights into world events or
ideas that you would like to share with
others. It could be a letter written from your
Lady to your Female, a short story or even
some practical suggestion that would be of
benefit to others.
If
you have any suggestions for what you would like to see on the
site, then again let
us know and we will put it in the brewing
pot and hopefully put it into action.
Anything we can do to help grow Feminenza
in the way of content and membership is our
driving aim. You might have been surprised to learn how
many hits we are already getting on the site
and therefore it might kindle enthusiasm to
those of you running Feminenza events to
ensure all activities, talks and workshops are
included and are up to date, so that everyone
around the world can always find out
where they can join an activity.
Concluding…
We
are hoping that the website is a great introduction to who we
are and what we do
and that it also provides a good source of
practical advice and wisdom which may be
helpful in your lives and the work of
Feminenza. The website is an outward manifestation
of the ‘unseen worlds’ and we
want us all to be able to unite in strength
and purpose. Remember that together we
can achieve the critical mass we are looking
for, where the weight of our combined
efforts tips the balance, so that more people
can give Mrs God a chance, should they
choose to.
