Because we Care about the Situation of Women in the World

The Feminenza Faculty of Global Women’s Issues ‘The Ring of Hope’

Ring of Hope symbol © Feminenza 2002“Fortunately women are starting to take more notice of what their inner voice is telling them about global issues. In this century it will be of vital importance that each woman is able in some way to contribute to the solutions needed for the problems we all face. This can only be the case when as a starting point, women are no longer suppressed and are equally as valued as men. This shift would cause a general enlightenment for the whole human race”.

This is how one of the participants summarised her thoughts as a result of the international conference, which established the new Feminenza faculty, ‘The Ring of Hope,’ in February 2003. The name was chosen because it is forming a world-wide network of women who can make contact with each other, where they can draw hope and can give each other strength to continue in whatever they are doing.

Participants at the Conference © Feminenza 2002The atmosphere of the conference was harmonious and friendly and over three days together, we formulated our Charter and Aims. Time and space were given so that we could get clarity about what we are trying to achieve.

The issues discussed were core to most of the participants, who already have long track records of dealing with the global situation of women and attempting possible solutions to some of these problems. Some are involved with refugees, others are active as counsellors or help victims of physical abuse or are working with teenagers trying to come to some values in their life. Another contributor maintains contact with various religious leaders in the world and one of the founders of ‘The Ring of Hope,’ and author of the book, ‘Beacons of Hope’ draws attention to women who are working to improve the circumstances of other women across the world.

We believe that by concentrating and connecting the power and qualities of women, it will become possible to have a stronger positive influence in society, through education and by standing up for what we believe in and striving towards harmony and unity within the human race.

This is the charter and aims that we have come to so far, but they are still a work in progress.

Charter of
'The Ring of Hope'

1. We believe that we live in changing times that offer new spiritual development opportunities to the human race. Within this, our primary focus is on the part that the feminine gender has to fulfil, which is largely undiscovered and still to be won.
2. We believe that all women, whatever their background, culture, creed, social status or age, have the right to be selfdetermining, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
3. We see that access to knowledge about what it means to be human is essential for any individual to develop according to their unique potential and gender.
3. We uphold and promote good relationships, dialogue and mutual respect between the genders for the betterment of all.

We are an independent organisation and are not religiously, politically or economically affiliated to any other organisation.
