The Editorial Team

Dear readers

Welcome to the first issue of our Feminenza Magazine, which will appear 3 times per year. It is aiming to keep you up-to-date with developments in Feminenza, but also tries to keep a keen eye on what is moving on the world stage where women are concerned.

What is Feminenza?

Feminenza is an international organisation for and by women of all ages, nationalities and cultural backgrounds. Currently it has approximately 400 members, spread over 16 countries. Feminenza is an adventurous enterprise, in which women look at essential issues for women in a versatile way. We believe that something new is possible for women in this time, and that something can and must be put right for women, and by that for our worldwide society.

Feminenza offers new knowledge and insights, you can get new inspiration or new energy and find new friendships. We strongly value the individual experiences of each woman and make space for those to be brought forward (these experiences are often more important and significant than we think...).

We are convinced that everyone can find their own strength, special talents and qualities in themselves and that they are waiting to be discovered. That is why we encourage this journey of discovery.

We have a great value for men and we feel their encouragement for what we want to achieve. We are conscious about the fact that in whatever we do, a good and respectful relationship with the male gender is of crucial importance. This is why we hope that they also feel invited to read this magazine!

What can you expect in this first issue? An article about Etty Hillesum. She was a young Dutch Jewish woman, who in her twenties in Amsterdam, was confronted with the Second World War. She makes a very special inner development journey, despite the circumstances she finds herself in, testimony of which are the diaries she left behind. Also an interview with Saija Toth about her work with refugees in Sweden, insights about Fitness from a Feminenza point of view from Denmark, a talk by Marion Verweij about her book 'Beacons of Hope' in the Netherlands and more...

We hope you enjoy this issue.
